Dr Prash Vas MRCP PhD is a Consultant Diabetologist and Diabetic Foot Physician at King’s College Hospital since October 2013. He has clinical interests in all aspects of diabetic foot disease and its management as well as in transformation of diabetes care. He has research interests in the aetiopathogensis of diabetic neuropathy (somatic and autonomic), painful neuropathy, treatment of diabetic foot ulcers and in the detection and stratification of diabetic foot ulceration risk. For his doctorate, he modernised and validated a novel procedure – the mLDIflare technique, for the detection of small fibre abnormalities, considered to be the earliest form of nerve damage in diabetes. He is the founding chair of the British Diabetic Neuropathy Symposium. He has been an expert advisor to NICE and recently also involved with the wound healing subcommittee of the International Working Group of Diabetic Foot (IWGDF). He maintains an active social media presence on the topics of diabetic neuropathy, diabetic foot disease and cardiovascular optimisation in diabetes.
